Honey is the third-most adulterated product in the world. The British Honey Company are leading the way of scientific research into the provenance and traceability in Honey. Working with Oxford and Reading Universities they have initiated a programme looking at the DNA makeup and the Isotope readings of various honeys. The software programme they use has been written by Michael Williams, founder of The British Honey Company and Alex Maurice, Director of IT & Tracebility to track the provenance of honey from ‘hive to table’. All their honey is tested for fake & foreign honeys, as well as colourings, flavourings and other nasties to guarantee the safety of their honey in the food and drinks chain.
