Mint Julep Cocktail

Mint Julep

The trick to making a great Mint Julep is to only bruise or 'muddle' the mint so as not to release a bitter taste. Serve in a copper Julep cup for a sure-fire showstopper of a cocktail.

 Ingredients

Method

70ml Keepr's Smoked Honey Bourbon

10 Fresh Mint Leaves

20ml Sugar Syrup

2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters

Crushed Ice

  • Lightly muddle the mint leaves with a small amount of syrup in a Julep cup

  • Add the bourbon and pack tightly with crushed ice

  • Stir until the cup is frosted. Top with more ice and garnish with fresh mint leaves and a few dashes of bitters.

Sugar Syrup

In a small saucepan bring 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water to boil and then simmer for 3 minutes until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and cool completely. Keep in the fridge in a glass jar for 7 days or freeze.
